Snacks |
It is difficult at times to find healthy foods that are not full of sugar, preservatives and colours.
We have listed some great foods that are not only quick but healthy as well.
- Corn Thins
- Dried fruit such as raisins and apricots
- Fresh fruit
- Plain biscuits
- Muffin bars – there are some options that are free of preservatives and colours. Also use invert syrup instead of sugar.
|
NOTE: |
Try not to over feed
Offer your children cool water instead of juice and soft drinks. It'll quench their thirst and leave room for mealtime, unlike a glass of juice. Juice is an important food but a child only needs a small amount of juice a day. It is easy to use juice as a substitute whenever your child is bored or is tired. When a toddler wants a new activity, and they don't know what to do next, generally they will come to mum and dad and say they are hungry or thirsty. We can interpret that as time for a snack or time for some juice and give it. The child is actually just bored and wants some interaction with mum and a new activity.
